Who is Kai Kim?


I am a queer, non-binary, Asian named one of 25 immersive creators to watch in NYC by No Proscenium. Director of Interactive & Experience Design for Journey Lab; Interactive Performance Specialist for Zamchick & Company; Associate Producer for Interactive PlayLab; Featured Artist for Fatchix, Inc.


I have created numerous interactive and immersive experiences and direct for both stage and film. Work includes collaborations with various companies: Juilliard/Center for Innovation in the Arts (Metamorphose, part of FUTURE STAGES); Under8ted Movement LLC (The Art of Killin' It); Marinelli New Dance Theater LLC (The True & Unquestionable Account of Dr. Joseph Snodgrass); Journey Lab (saudade; Impression); Interactive PlayLab (Director: Jeff Wirth), Wildrence (Impression); Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park (#selfietheplay); Kerrigan/Lowdermilk (The Bad Years, directed by Stephen Brackett).


I have led numerous workshops in interactive performance technique and also helped craft interactive curriculum at The Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park for their education and community engagement department. Guest artist for NYU/Open Arts; NYU/Immersive, Interactive, Site-based, and Multi-Sensory Theatre; Trinity/La Mama Performing Arts Program; Interactive PlayLab. Current faculty at Broadway Dance Center.


I strive to craft powerful interactive experiences that prioritize the agency of the participant. I am most interested in telling stories that explore radical honesty, perspective, connection and how these stories can foster more equitable and inclusive action.
